DOCENT CENTER
Hello, all,
We had one of the most beautiful summer days of the summer on Sunday, August 23(The burning of the Lion of Baltimore), 2026. The Asquith Sharpshooters from Eastern Shore came over to give demos. Since they were visiting, we decided to take the Brown Bess. My brother (Tom Calvert) came to help with the information about the gun. It was the day before school started, so we didn’t expect too many people. We had 30 visitors, 1 $30 membership, and $90 in donations. The Sharpshooters and the visitors thought it was a great treat to see and hear about the Brown Bess.

Bill’s first cataract surgery went well. The biggest problem is only being able to lift 30 lbs. or less. The first week in September will be the second surgery. Hopefully by Family Day he will be able to lift things again.

Due to our inability to attract gardeners, starting in Spring April 2027 our gardening will change.
*Priority 1 – make the door gardens great.
*Priority 2 – Try to include some vegetables in the kitchen garden.
*Priority 3 – Try to keep some of the Lavender going.
This will change the look of the Hancock grounds, but it will be less stressful for our gardeners.
